OUR METHODOLOGY FOR BEST NIFTY PERFORMERS
WHAT WE READ FROM THE NIFTY RANKINGS FOR JUNE 2026?
Here we look at rankings individually, and then at the combined performance.
- In the Top-20 stocks presented in the table, Indigo Airways gave the best 1-month return of 21.8%. Out of these 20 stocks, 19 gave positive returns over 1 month.
- In the Top-20 stocks above, Shriram Finance and Adani Ports gave best 1-year returns of 57.5% and 30.4%. Out of 20 stocks, 18 gave positive returns over 1 year.
- The most prominent sector in the top-20 by combined rankings was the BFSI sector with 5 stocks; including Shriram Finance, Axis Bank, Bajaj Finance, SBI, and ICICI Bank. This can be attributed to a revival in interest with reduced chances of a rate hike.
- Healthcare, FMCG, and autos sent 3 stocks each to the top 20 by combined rank. While healthcare and FMCG can be seen more as defensives, autos were an interest rate sensitive play just like BFSI. These 3 sectors sent 9 stocks to the top-20.
- Consumer services was another sector that saw some interesting presence in the top-20 and included Indigo Airways and Eternal. Both are strong plays on the revival in domestic demand, which is expected to drive the India GDP growth story in FY27.
- The 3 stocks at the bottom of the Nifty are, not surprisingly, large cap IT stocks (TCS, Infosys, Wipro, HCL Tech). Apart from the Anthropic disruption; falling margins, lower tech spending, and flat constant currency (CC) sales growth are the key concerns.
The number of holding companies / incubators in the top-20 includes Adani Enterprises, SBI, Grasim, Eternal, and L&T! Holding company discount is no longer the issue!
