The net profit margins have been stable between 9% and 10% between FY24 and FY26. The return on equity (ROE) has tapered in the last 2 years due to the rapid expansion of the equity base. The EBITDA margins have also been steady at around 25%. These steady profit margins can be attributed to the typical cost-plus based pricing in mining services offered.
VALUATION METRICS OF CALIBER MINING AND LOGISTICS LTD IPO
If one looks at the valuation of the company based on the latest FY26 full-year EPS of ₹29.47, it is trading at around 14.4X earnings at the upper band IPO price of ₹424 per share. That is reasonable valuations for the kind of very niche mining services offered. However, the valuations are likely to get caped due to the strict margin-based pricing that clients ask the company to adopt, which is evident in the flat net margins and EBITDA margins.
The company does bring some strengths to the table like the ability to offer end-to-end coal mining solutions, a strong client like Coal India Ltd, and opportunities for new L-1 orders due to its strong presence and track record in the business. While the margin-based pricing structure can be a valuation cap, the P/E ratio at 14.4X current earnings is very reasonable. For investors, the downside risk may be limited for the time being.
